Norfolk Environmental Waste Services (NEWS)

Norfolk Environmental Waste Services Ltd (NEWS) is Norfolk's leading waste management company. At the heart of our business philosophy is a commitment to care of the environment through the implementation of best practice and the highest standards in the management of society's waste. The company specialises in a wide range of waste management services including recycling, composting and collection and disposal of waste from households and businesses. Our aim is to offer opportunities for more sustainable waste management in Norfolk, backed by sound environmental management.

We are committed to a greater reliance on more environmentally sustainable forms of waste management and, to that end, introduced large scale composting of green waste to the county in 1995. Our commitment to the recycling of waste is being consolidated by the building of two major new materials recycling facilities in Norwich and King's Lynn that will be operational towards the end of 2001. These facilities will provide the opportunity to greatly increase the level of commercial and household waste recycling in Norfolk. The company also operates most of the public household waste recycling centres in the county.

NEWS has been a main sponsor of EABEC since 1994. We believe that the Club plays an important role in helping smaller businesses meet environmental obligations in a straightforward and cost-effective way, thereby improving the environmental performance of Norfolk as a whole.
